Soil Preparation
Soil preparation is the most important aspect of establishing a new lawn. The soil requires a good structure, high-quality organic matter and the nutrients required to ensure the lawn grows quickly with a dense coverage. Soil preparation is hard work, but when done properly it saves time on fixing problems endemic with an unhealthy turf.

There are many different types of grass seed and choosing the proper one is important. However it can get kind of confusing to someone without proper knowledge of the different cultivars. Here is a run down of the three most common cultivars used in our area.

A chemical fertilizer is any inorganic material of fully or partially synthetic origin that is added to the soil to sustain plant growth. Chemical fertilizers are produced synthetically from inorganic materials. Most importantly they are rich in the three essential nutrients needed for plant growth. Some examples of chemical fertilizers are ammonium sulphate, ammonium phosphate, ammonium nitrate, urea, and ammonium chloride.

Quackgrass is a cool season, perennial grassy weed. Quackgrass breaks dormancy at the same time as our normal turf does in the spring. Quackgrass is often mistaken as Crabgrass but remember if you see this grassy weed in the spring or early summer it is definitely Quackgrass. Quackgrass is very hard to control oreradicate for several reasons. As with any weed your best offense is to have a healthy, dense turf.

In the next several paragraphs I will be discussing basic knowledge of the three major elements in fertilizers today.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
